Home decor

I took the Make Art That Sells Creating Collections for Home Decor course a couple of months ago - such an amazing experience. We looked at five different materials - Fabric, Metal, Glass, Ceramic and Wood and learned about different finishing techniques and how to think about creating art to be applied on 3D objects.

Here are my three favourite boards I created:

And a final board with my favourite pieces from each week:

Social media

As you can probably tell from my very sporadic posting here, I'm not the best at keeping a blog... So I thought I'd let you know other places you can find me online, where I'm much more active :)

My favourite online hangout is Instagram - so many beautiful pictures!

Second to Instagram, Pinterest - again, so many beautiful pictures!

And of course Facebook.

Back to school

These last five weeks I have been taking part in the Make Art That Sells course by the illustration agent Lilla Rogers. This is quite an intense course and I have really learned so much!

Here are the outcomes of my three favourite assignments:

During week 3 we looked at children's book illustration and had to illustrate the cover or internal pages for The Three Billy Goats Gruff. I had so much fun painting goats!

Week 4 covered wall art and we were assigned colours - I was given yellow and pink - not what I would usually go for but I surprised myself and I think I might use brighter colours more often now.

For the final week we had to design a "hyper-lush" zipper pouch based on a personal collection. Not really collecting much myself I went for a botanic garden theme - I'd have my own Victorian greenhouse filled with exotic plants if I could.

New print in the shop

There's a new print up in my Etsy shop - Rooftop Garden. This is pretty much my dream home!

Free printable gift tags!

I've made a printable set of gift tags - the PDF is available to download for free here

These are so easy to make:

Print them out on 200gsm or higher card (you can find this at your local stationery shop). If you don't have a printer at home you can take the file to a copy shop and they will be able to print them for you.

Cut the tags out just inside the dotted line

Punch a hole in the top of the hat

Loop a length of string or bakers twine through the hole

Write your note on the back and then attach to your presents!
